Networking can be challenging for most people. From finding something to talk about, to making sure you don’t make it too obvious that you are looking for an opportunity to work together, it can be a daunting experience.

The reality is that networking is a critical element of business and, sometimes, the value is in just reminding people that you still exist.

My tip for networking is reciprocity. I make sure that everyone I meet takes away something of value from the conversation. Make sure you are generous and give something back.

Many corporate leaders struggle to get an outside perspective so I offer an interesting article or piece of research I’ve read. By saying ‘you might find this interesting’ you fuel the conversation and deliver something of value to them.

It’s good karma and, hopefully, it will come back to you.
